Calibration of Instruments
Electrical Contractors are currently required to have their Test Instruments calibrated annually and a Calibration Cert must be available for inspection when visited by the Safe Electric Inspector.
ECSSA, in conjunction with an established Calibration Provider, has put in place a simple facility whereby, with just one phone call to ECSSA, the Instruments will be collected from the Contractor by Courier, taken directly to the Calibration House, and returned directly to the Contractor within two days, with a valid Calibration Cert.
In addition ECSSA will maintain a record of all instruments which have been calibrated through the ECSSA Scheme and will issue reminders to contractors before the due date of recalibration each year.
The total cost to the Contractor, including collection and delivery, for a Multi-Function Instrument or a set of three separate instruments is €100 & VAT.
To avoid damage to instruments, it is important that they be securely packed, preferably in their original cases, which should be secured with a tie wrap or similar and should have the Owners Details included with the instruments.
